The firm we went looking for, and had to build instead.
Bluestone Strategic Tax wasn't started to chase a market. It was started because the service didn't exist when we needed it ourselves.
46% was the number that started it.
A successful business, good earnings, a CPA and advisors already at the table, and still a 46% effective tax rate. Nearly half of every dollar. Not because anyone was careless, but because nobody was building a strategy before the year ended instead of reporting on it after.
The specialists came next: a firm known for tax strategies, a firm known for entity structuring, a network for the rest. Each was genuinely good at its piece, we'd tell you that ourselves. But the strategies from one didn't know about the structure from another, the CPA heard about all of it after the fact, and every implementation step landed back on the client's desk. The most expensive advice money could buy still needed a general contractor, and the client was it.
We watched that happen from the client's chair, inside our own balance sheet, which is why we built Bluestone as the firm that was missing: strategy, implementation ready backed by source material under one roof, with nothing sold on commission and nothing left half-built. The 46% is where our story starts. The point of the firm is that yours shouldn't.

His view of the work is simple: Title 26 is just law.
You are allowed to pay as little tax as required by the law. However, you still have to follow the rules and do so in a manner that has substance and follows the intent established by that law. This is our aim: build to the code, and apply your priorities and intentions to that of the tax code to form the strategies that fit you best.
“Contractors build to code. So do we. Ours is just the Internal Revenue Code.”
Bluestone works alongside your team, not instead of it.
Your CPA stays your CPA
- We plan; they prepare and file, two different jobs
- Every strategy is delivered to them documented and return-ready
- We deliver each strategy to you documented and cited to primary and secondary sources. Your CPA or preparer decides how it is reported and signs the return.
Your advisor stays your advisor
- Bluestone does not manage investments for a fee or sell commission based products. Our guidance is grounded in your stated objectives and priorities.
- Strategies are coordinated with your advisor's plan, not around it
- Estate work is coordinated with your estate attorney
